History
The Portuguese Water Dog was a sailor's helper in Portugal, they herded fish into nets and carried messages between boats. In the 1970 the Portuguese waterdog was almost extinct and now they aren't very common, so don't be surprised if you see one priced around 2,000 dollars.
Distinctive features
The Portuguese Water Dog has one very distinctive feature it's "palm tree tail". It also has webbed feet.
Personality
Portuguese Water Dogs (Portys) are kind, fuzzy, loving dog and they are hypoallergenic. Our Porty has never bitten, even when a little kid grabbed his tail.
Why The Porty?
Portys have hair and not fur, which means that they do not shed, and for most people are hypo-allergenic. These dogs also love the water, boating, and swimming. They also love children.
